President and Founder

Kornelia Purcell

Kornelia Purcell is the founder and president of Angels In Action Resource Center. Her passion to start this wonderful non-profit initially began following the death of her husband, Elder Seddrick Purcell. Together, Seddrick and Kornelia have  a combined 6 beautiful children, and 3 grandchildren. With Seddrick’s passing, Kornelia felt alone and it left her numb, until she sought ways to walk through her healing process. She learned the art of couponing, which became a huge way to give back to not only her family, but those who needed help in the community. She has combined her lifelong mission of love for her community and the betterment of people to start Angels In Action Resource Center. Kornelia will often say that her Seddrick taught her how to love and care for people on a whole different level, including how to be a caregiver in his terminal illness. She realized how many people needed to be shown love and support in practical ways and that requires rolling up your sleeves and putting in the time, energy, and real labor.

Kornelia has volunteered with Latino Community Connects in Cumberland County, was a volunteer candy striper at First Health Hospital, a Youth Minister at Avery Chapel FWB, in Raeford, NC, and successfully completed a leadership program with United Way.  She also served on the board with Myrover Reese in Fayetteville, NC. Kornelia has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science/Child Development from Ashford University and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Webster University. She is also the published author of, “Morning Glory”, which details her love and journey with her late husband. With over 15 years experience working in case management, mental health, and substance abuse Kornelia currently utilizes her skills as a Substance Abuse Counselor, and as the President of Angels In Action Resource Center to help others heal.

Kornelia’s strongest passions are her faith, independence, and motherhood. When she is not working, she enjoys clearance shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family.  She loves people and is overjoyed to serve others, angelically.
