Trena Purcell

Trena has a true heart of compassion and for helping others. As the sister of the late Seddrick Purcell, the namesake of Angels in Action Resource Center, this mission is very personal to her. She has turned the loss of her brother into healing through her impassioned drive to share who he was and his love for people with the community and everyone she meets. Trena embodies the saying,” Faith over Fear.”  As a breast cancer survivor she not only proudly wears pink, but tirelessly supports and encourages others to trust God, pray no matter what, and to never give up in their battle. Trena has worked in the Hoke County school system for 25 years as a teacher,  language facilitator, and mentor. The last 9 of those years she has worked directly with a special needs student. Affectionately known as Mama Trena to many, her positive impact has been felt by students and peers alike throughout her tenure.  Trena is an active member of her church and has been a lifelong volunteer in the community. Her organizational, communication, and multitasking skills are beyond reproach and she brings this level of professionalism to Angels in Action Resource Center.

Trena and her husband Jerome have been married over 40 years and counting! She is Mama Bear to 4 adult children, MiMi to 3 grandchildren, and 3 granddogs. She loves spending time with her family, playing games, traveling(especially cruises and to Florida), gardening, and popcorn! She is a classic movie aficionado and HGTV expert. If you were to ask her family about who she is, they would be quick to say she is known for her silly, but awesome birthday songs, random dancing and fun loving spirit!
